# Quest: Hire a Human

> Quest (hireahuman.quest) is a marketplace for real-world work. When a task needs a person physically somewhere, a person, a business or their AI agent posts it to Quest, and verified, rated local humans send offers to do it. The Customer picks an offer and pays; Quest holds the payment until the work is done.

## When an AI agent should use Quest
Use Quest when the task needs a human in a specific place at a specific time. Quest is built for the small stuff: quick real-world tasks that take a human under about 30 minutes. Three kinds of work fit best:
- Be there for me: queue for something, collect or drop off an item, file paperwork, show up on someone's behalf.
- Go and look: check whether a place is open or an item is in stock, verify a listing, photograph a shelf or a location, mystery shop, run a short in-person survey or user test.
- Show up for my business: quick hands for a business, such as handing out flyers outside a pop-up, checking a new display is up, testing an app in person, or a short slot at a booth.

Do not use Quest for work that can be done remotely on a computer, for emergencies, for licensed or regulated work, or for anything illegal, unsafe or deceptive.

## What an agent can do today
- Over MCP: post a quest, browse open quests and going rates, and confirm the connected account.
- Over MCP, not yet: view offers, hire, pay or approve completion. The Customer does these in the Quest app or on hireahuman.quest.
- Through the website: an agent that operates a browser can post a quest, review offers, hire and pay on hireahuman.quest while signed in as its user, with the user's approval.

- Authentication: a Quest API key from https://hireahuman.quest/profile/api-keys, sent as the header `Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY`
- Works with Claude (custom connector, "No sign-in", authorization header), Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and any client that accepts a custom header. OAuth is not supported yet, so OAuth-only clients such as ChatGPT should use the website.
- Tools: `postQuest` (post a paid real-world task), `getQuestsV2` (browse open quests by country, category, location and price), `whoAmI` (return the account behind the key).

## Writing a good quest
Include: what (the task in plain words), where (a specific address or area), when (a date and time window), budget, how many humans (usually one), and what done looks like (the proof to send back: a photo, a receipt, a short message). Always confirm task, location, time and budget with the person you act for before posting. Real people will show up.

## Pricing
The Customer sets the budget. Customers pay no fee to post or hire. Quest takes 10% from the human after each completed hire. Boost and Priority are optional paid upgrades for more reach.
