Survey tasks get 8 offers on average: the most competitive work on Quest

Survey and research tasks attract the most competition on Quest, with some posts receiving up to 500 offers from qualified workers.

Survey tasks on Quest receive 8 offers on average, making them the most competitive category on the platform. Over the past six months, research work has consistently attracted more workers than any other type of task, with some individual posts receiving up to 500 offers.

We analyzed 26,750 Quest posts from March through August 2026 to understand which categories fill fastest and why certain types of work attract more competition.

Research work gets the most offers

Research tasks average 5.8 offers per post, nearly double the platform average of 2.6 offers. Within the research category, three distinct types emerge:

Survey tasks lead at 8.0 offers per post. These quick-turnaround jobs pay around $748 on average. Product testing follows at 6.2 offers, with typical budgets around $2,072. Market research posts receive 5.2 offers and pay the most at $5,477 on average.

The pattern reveals something counterintuitive: lower-paying survey work attracts more competition than higher-paying market research roles. Workers prioritize quick completion and reliable payment over maximum earnings per task.

Part-time and business admin roles show steady demand

Part-time staffing posts receive 3.0 offers on average across 3,052 posts. Business and admin work shows identical competition at 3.0 offers per post. These categories represent steady, recurring work rather than one-off tasks.

Talent categories (events, promoters, livestreamers) average 2.7 offers, while social media content creation also lands at 2.7 offers per post.

What this means for businesses hiring research participants

If you need survey takers or research participants, you will receive multiple qualified offers within hours. The 8-offer average means you can choose from a diverse pool rather than settling for whoever responds first.

Our data shows 32% of survey posts received 5 or more offers. Product testing posts hit that threshold 25% of the time, while market research reached it 35% of the time.

For comparison, household tasks average just 1.5 offers per post, the lowest competition on the platform.

Categories with moderate competition

Errands represent the largest volume at 6,879 posts over six months but receive only 2.0 offers per post on average. Creative work (design, video, photo) shows identical numbers at 2.0 offers.

Teaching and tutoring posts average 2.3 offers, while care services (pet sitting, elderly care, childcare) land at 1.9 offers per post.

Tech and IT roles average 2.5 offers despite commanding the highest budgets at $179,300 average price. The higher barrier to entry limits the applicant pool.

Frequently asked questions

Why do survey tasks get more offers than higher-paying work?

Survey tasks require minimal qualifications and complete quickly, usually in under an hour. Workers can fit them between other commitments. Higher-paying market research often requires specific expertise or multi-day availability, which reduces the eligible applicant pool despite better pay.

How many offers should I expect for my post?

Most posts receive between 1 and 3 offers. Research tasks average 5.8 offers, while household work averages 1.5 offers. About 13% of all posts receive 5 or more offers, typically in research, part-time staffing, or business admin categories.

Which tasks get the fewest offers?

Household tasks like cleaning, repairs, and home maintenance receive the fewest offers at 1.5 per post on average. These jobs often require specific tools, transportation, or physical presence at a particular location, which limits the pool of available workers.

Does more competition mean faster hiring?

Yes. Research tasks with 8 average offers typically receive their first response within the first few hours of posting. Higher competition gives you more choice and faster turnaround since you are not waiting for the one available worker to notice your post.
